“ACO BOCINA”
Aco Bocina started playing guitar when he was nine years old and as soon as he could handle one, he came to his first music school.
His artistic background is evolving and still evolving in his constant wandering around the world. His passion for mandolin first led him to write music for this small - but large - instrument and then play it.
Still very young, he toured Europe both as a soloist and as a first mandolin in a large orchestra.
The release of "Modern Mandolin", his first album recorded and released in Germany in 1986, will soon be followed by his decision to choose Italy as his new home. In this first production, Aco offers the music he always based his career on, the “Mediterranean Music”, a very broad concept that he himself founded.
In Italy, Aco began working with Curci Editions, which in addition to demonstrating faith in his ability as a composer, by purchasing rights to some of his works, uses his undisputed technical abilities to produce "Mandolino Facile", a small method for the instrument. , as he shows his technique. Shortly after, he works on Pierangelo Bertoli's album "Oracoli".
In 1995, his second album “Ad Libitum”, released by Bumshiva Music, once again shows his gift for musical composition and his ability to turn famous songs into something new.
The subsequent period is marked by participation in some high-level events: a concert at the Teatro Smeraldo in Milan, a performance at a fundraising concert against AIDS at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and his performance as the opening act for Matt Bianco at PalaTrussardi (now PalaVobis)) is just examples.
Meanwhile, he keeps showing on TV on various occasions: "Maurizio Costanzo Show", "Uno Mattina", Red Ronnie's "Help" and "Fuego" are just a few examples.
In 1997, his piece for guitar "Amor y Fuego", released by Warner Chappel, in "105 for you - Disco Latino", a collection, and Aco plays with Chieftains in their concert at "Teatro delle Verdure" in Palermo, together with the symphony orchestra in “Teatro Massimo”.
In 1999 he re-released the album “Rumba Tzigana” with Warner Chappel (meanwhile he also released the maxi single “Aco Bocina”). It is also thanks to this production that “Musica! Rock & Altro, the weekly post in "La Repubblica" claims that he is the "new hero of gypsy rumba".
During this year, he takes his music abroad by successfully participating in the “Walnut Valley Mandolin Championship,” part of the “Walnut Valley Festival,” which takes place every year in Kansas (USA).
Back in Italy, he plays again at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan for a fundraising concert to support Exodus, an association that helps recover from drug abuse.
In 2000, a year that opens with a concert at Malpensa Airport, he performs at many important Italian ethnic music festivals: “Festa della Musica” in Milan
(in collaboration with “Corriere della Sera”, who released the festival's CD with also Acos "Hombres Azules"), "Mundus 2000" in Reggio Emilia, "Suoni e voci della sera" in Modena, "Notturni d'Arte 2000" in Padua and "Festival Europeo della Cultura Zingara" in Rome.
In 2001, Aco's new album, made between Milan and Bucharest with Fanfare Ciociarlia, was released in five of the ten tracks.
Among the most important performances this year we remember the second participation in "Mundus", the show on "Lago Nord" with Willie de Ville, the performance in Caldarola's Teatro Comunale for "Tuttiteatri" and performance as a guest star at the award "Virginia".
